You can reach Quaid–E–Azam International Airport from Karachi city center by using a bus or minibus. However, using a means of public transportation can make you lose time even though it is the most affordable transportation alternative. If you decide to use a faster transportation vehicle, you can get on a taxi. Renting a car is another option.
There are many car rental companies offering service in the city center. Most of them are local companies. In Pakistan, traffic is generally heavy and complicated. For this reason, tourists are advised to rent a car with a driver by contacting a reliable company. You can get help from your hotel about this issue before your travel. You should drive on the highway N5 and take the Jinnah Terminal Road in order to reach the airport. You can get to Quaid–E–Azam International Airport in about half an hour under normal traffic conditions by following the airport directions.
It is possible to reach the airport in approximately one hour by getting on an airport bus in the city center. One-way ticket price of these buses is 50 Pakistani Rupee per passenger. There are also minibuses carrying passengers to the airport from the city center. These vehicles are cheaper but tourists may be charged higher amounts. In addition, minibuses are very crowded. For these reasons, buses are more preferred by foreign visitors.
Travelling to the airport from the city center lasts about half an hour. You should bargain over the fare before getting on any taxi. The cost of travelling to the airport from the city center is about 300 – 500 Pakistani Rupee.
Quaid–E–Azam International Airport, which is known as Jinnah International Airport shortly, is located 14 km east of the city center. There are foreign exchange office, ATMs and baggage rooms at the airport. In addition, there are restaurants and cafes where you can try local tastes as well as the delicacies from the world cuisine. You can do shopping at the stores where you can find various products specific to Pakistan like carpet and rugs. There is also a duty-free shop at the airport. There is a mosque near the airport parking area. Although there is not any hotel within the building, you can stay at Ramada Plaza Hotel located 1 km of the airport.
Serving the Java region of Indonesia, Adisutjipto Airport is about 8 kilometers from Yogyakarta city center and consists of two different terminals as domestic and international terminals. Although it is the 3rd busiest airport in the Java region, which is a tourist destination, the area that you may find quite small closes at night. You can get to Yogyakarta city center from the airport in half an hour by taking advantage of means of public transportation such as buses, taxis, and trains, as well as you can enjoy driving by renting a car to reach the city center.
If you prefer an affordable transfer option from Adisutjipto Airport to Yogyakarta city center, you can take the bus. There are two bus companies providing transportation services at the airport, and the first of these are the buses with Damri logo. These buses go through many central points in the city center including well-known hotels. Bus fares vary from 50.000 IDR to 85.000 IDR (3.5 USD on average) depending on your destination.
Apart from Damri buses, the buses operated by Trans Jogja company also depart from the airport. Trans Jogja buses have 3 different routes to the city. The route of the 1A line is Adisutjipto Airport – Tugu Station- Malioboro - Jogja Expo Center (JEC); the route of Line 1B starts from Adisutjipto Airport and passes through Jogja Exhibition Center (JEC) - General Post Office - Pingit - Gadjah Mada University; Line 3B follows Kotagede route and goes to the bus terminals in the city center. Trans Jogja buses offer quite an affordable transfer option for the passengers with a tight budget and bus fare is only 3.600 IDR to reach all over the city. You can even get to the well-known Prambanan temple directly from the airport. You can get on Trans Jogja buses from the bus stops near the car park outside the terminal.
Both bus options will take you to the city center in 30 minutes under normal conditions. The buses depart by the hour, and bus services start at 7 am and end at 7 pm.
In Yogyakarta, taxis are safe and you can take a taxi to get to the city center from the airport comfortably. You will be charged depending on the distance you will go; the opening fare of the taxis having a taximeter is 5.500 IDR. Opening fare of the night tariff is 10.000 IDR. Some taxis at the airport operate at flat rates depending on your destination. To take one of these taxis, you need to get a flat rate (fixed price) taxi coupon from the taxi counters inside the terminal. Flat rate is around 60.000 IDR (4 USD on average) for the nearest distance.
The taxi stops where you can take the taxis operating at flat rates are located to the right of the international terminal exit. If you would like to take a taxi having a taximeter, you can take one on the main road at the airport exit.
Adisutjipto Airport is the first airport in Indonesia having railway connection for transfer. The departure point of the trains, frequently preferred for transfer between the airport and the city center, is the Maguwo Station connected with underground tunnels in the area. The trains running between 6 am and 8 pm every day follow the routes linking Kutoarjo, Yogyakarta, Surakarta, Surabaya, and Madiun to each other. You will pay quite a small fee for your trip on the train that provides an easy transfer to Yogyakarta-Tugu Station, which lets you reach the city center without having to deal with the traffic congestion in the city.
You can rent a car from the car rental offices inside the terminal building after arriving at Adisutjipto Airport, or you can also book a car in advance and ask the car rental company make your car ready at your landing time. The international car rental companies such as Hertz, Budget, Avis, Dollar, Europcar, Alamo, and National, and local travel agencies provide car rental services at the airport.
Since Yogyakarta is a tourist destination, many hotels offer airport transfer (shuttle) services for their guests.
