About Aalborg

Located in the north of Denmark, Aalborg is one of the oldest cities in the country with more than 1000 years of history. At first it was a major site of battles during the Thirty Years' War, and after Denmark grew as a naval power the city became home to numerous cafes, restauraunts and museums.

The Immigrant Museum, the Nordjyllands Art Museum and the remarkable ship-shaped Viking Cemetery are among the prominent places in the city. Sports in the city are among the most important activities for locals to partake in - in addition to football, cricket, and basketball, the city's handball team has also been successful in European and international tournaments as well. At the Aalborg Zoo and National History Museum both children and adult visitors can learn about many species of animals that are endangered or extinct in the wild.

As it is located in the north of Denmark, the city is usually dominated by cold temperatures in the winter, with even spring and summer being relatively cool. While spring will be more comfortable, winter also offers an unique beauty as the entire city will be covered in snow.
