A small town located in the South American country of Paraguay, located on the shores of the Paraguay River. In this town of 20,000 most of the population derives their income from fishing. However, daily tours in Ayolas have increased lately and have shown a faster growth in tourism. Neverthelss, the airport has remained closed to commercial flights as of now.
However, Ayolas can be reached from Santiago, via the national road system. There is also an archaeological museum, which displays the remains of the ancient civilizations that have been found in the area in Ayolas. The nearby San Jose and Coretta beaches are also very popular. The Arary Festival is held in Ayolas every September and is an absolute must-see event if you are in the area during this period.
