Blacksburg is a city located in the southwest of Virginia. The city was incorporated towards the end of the 1800’s. Blacksburg is an important city that is home to Virginia’s largest university, Virginia Polytechnic Institution and State University, which is known for its engineering and business schools. Therefore the vast majority of the city’s population is made up of university students. Important venues in the city include the university’s beautiful campus, founded on the scenic New River Valley and the Appalachian Mountains, and the Blacksburg Museum. The city’s highest building is the 12-story Slusher Hall located on the Virginia Tech campus. Slusher Beach is another important area that is allocated for students who want to bask in the sun when it is hot out.

The city is also home to many different organizations, including the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center. The Armory Gallery, the Lyric Theatre, Caboose Park, Hahn Horticulture Garden and Smithfield Plantation are among the must-see places in Blacksburg. Since it is a college town the city is vibrant and exciting. The street fairs and festivals host a number of events in the city each year, providing tourists a pleasant and unique travel experience. The Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport is located about 42 minutes away from the city center, which you can reach using public transportation. There are 8 flights per week from New York to Roanoke and flights from London to Roanoke have at least one layover and take at least 11 hours.
