Transportation to Airport from Bangkok City Center

Don Mueang Intl. Airport

Thailand’s capital Bangkok is one of the most important tourist destinations in the Asian continent. The city, which hosted over 25 million tourists last year, has 2 airports. The Suvarnabhumi International Airport opened for international travel in 2006. The city’s first airport, Don Mueang International Airport, is a regional commuter flight hub and low-cost airline hub.

Suvarnabhumi International Airport handles the largest amount of international passengers entering the city, handling over 53 million passengers in 2012. Bangkok is a city with a population of 8 million. Like other South Asian countries, transportation within the city can be chaotic. However, transportation to and from the airport is extremely advanced and comfortable.

Rail

You can take buses 201 and 503 from the Royal Palace, National Museum, and Phara Nakhon, the historic city center, to Phaya Thai Station. From this station you can get to the airport in 17 minutes.

You can also get on the express line at Makkasan Station. Other lines take about 30 minutes to get to the airport.

Airport Services

There are vehicles that depart from Victory Monument, which is one of the busiest transportation hubs in the city, to the airport every 20 minutes. You can get to the airport using luxury minibuses or buses where you need to connect or transfer in between. Minibuses 550 and 551 will take you directly to the airport. The city of Bangkok experiences extremely hot temperatures and these vehicles were designed taking that fact into consideration. These vehicles are all air-conditioned, providing comfortable transportation for tourists.    

Personal Car

From the historic city center (Phara Nakhon) take the Nakhon Sawan or Lan Luang bridges and connect to the Sirat Expressway, which has a toll. From here you need to take Motorway 7, which connects directly to the airport. After reaching the airport you can park your vehicle in one of the three parking lots, which have a total car park capacity of 5 thousand vehicles.

Transportation to Chiang Mai City Center from Airport

Chiang Mai Intl. Airport

Public transportation vehicles or tuk-tuks which are widely used in the city are not allowed to enter Chiang Mai International Airport. You can reach the city center by taxi or rent a car at the airport. It is important to remember that almost all the hotels in Chiang Mai have airport shuttles and you can go to the hotel effortlessly with these shuttles.

Taxi

You can get to the city center from the airport by paying 120 baht. The travel lasts approximately 20 minutes. You should remember that there are a few taxi companies offering service at the airport and you should demand a vehicle from the 'Taxi' offices in the terminal.

Hotel Service

Almost all hotels in the city have airport shuttle services or limousines for their guests. You can get in contact with your hotel in advance in order to benefit from this service.

Limousine / Car Rental

You can see the limousine rental office on the first floor of the airport, at the passenger terminal opposite the domestic and international arrival terminals. There are car rental offices next to it. If you will drive, you must follow the road 4032 to go to the city center. Another alternative is to go straight on the road 108 and connect to the road 121. The travel lasts for a total of 20 minutes.
