Transportation to Airport from Cancun City Center

Cancun Intl. Airport

You can rent a car or take a taxi to get to the airport from Cancun. Those who are looking for a more economical means of transportation can take the bus seven if it is a little bit more tiresome.

Taxi

If you want to have a comfortable and safe journey in Cancun, you can take a taxi. This delightful airport journey takes only 20 minutes.

Bus

If you want to go to the airport by bus, you need to go to the terminal in the city center, which is the first departure point of the buses. The ADO buses providing airport transportation service from 04:30 am to 11 pm departs every 45 minutes maximum.

Rent a car

You can rent a car online from Budget, Enterprise, Alamo, Avis and Hertz, which make procedures even easier with online car rental service, and you can deliver the rental car here once you arrive at the airport.  

Airport Information

Cancun Airport, Mexico’s second busiest airport, covers a very large area. The airport has three separate two-storey terminals; Terminal 1 is used for private flights, Terminal 2 is used for regional flights, and Terminal 3 is used for international flights. The terminals provide opportunities for basic needs such as pharmacy, lost property office and health center as well as lifts between the floors and access to ATMs.

Wireless internet is available free of charge at all terminals. It is possible to come across a wide variety of shopping stores at the airport. You can shop at Aldeasa Perfumery in cosmetics section and Convenience Store in books and magazines section, especially at Aldeasa Duty Free store. Los Cinco Soles is at your service if you want to buy local souvenirs. Hotdog All Dressed, Aldeasa Les Boutiques, Cloe and Harley Davidson are also at your service in the clothing section at the airport.

In the foods and drinks area, you can find the brands of various world cuisines as well as you can enjoy eating in the fast-food area. The restaurants include TGI Fridays, Bubba Gump Shrimp, Mera Restaurant and Berry Hill’s Baja Grill, while the fast-food restaurants include Fast food – California Pizza Kitchen, Haggen Dazs, Guacamole Grill and Grab & Go.

Transportation to Miami City Center from Airport

Rail System

It is possible to reach the city center from the airport with the rail system lines in Miami consisting of Downtown and the Miami Beach located on two sides of a gulf formed by the Atlantic Ocean.

To do this, you need to get on the tram called “Metrorail” which departs from the airport and get off the tram after 7 stations to board the bus number 5100 from Dadeland. This journey takes about 40 minutes. Similarly, the bus 5100 also goes to the South Beach in Miami Beach.

There are also the bus services between the airport and the city center. You can reach Miami Beach and the city center called ‘Downtown’ by taking the buses 7, 42 and 150 departing from the terminal exits.

The buses 150 and 42 are used as an express line, also known as “Metrobus”. It takes about 50 minutes to get to the city center by these buses.

Taxi

You can reach the city by taking a taxi from the airport which is 15 kilometers away from the city center. Taking taxi to the city center costs an average taxi fare, but taxi fare is a little bit higher if you want to go Miami Beach and South Beach.

Rent a car

You can get to every point of the city by renting a car from the airport keeping in mind that there is traffic on weekend evenings, especially in Downtown and Miami Beach.

At the airport, there are many car rental offices, some of which offer luxury cars. After renting a car from the airport, you need to drive through the toll road called ‘Airport Expy’. This road will connect you to the 6th Avenue at a major intersection.

Once you cross a big intersection again, you will be connected to the 3rd Avenue. These roads numbered and named based on the 4 main directions will eventually connect you to the city center through the 4th Avenue.

This coastal city is served by 5 airports, including Miami International Airport, which is the main airport in South Florida for long-haul international flights and is a major gateway between Latin America and the U.S. There are a variety of transportation alternatives to get to the city center from the airport, including rail, bus, taxi, and rental cars. 

Rail

Miami International Airport is connected to the city center and other parts of the Greater Miami area by the Metrorail, and Tri-Rail systems. Both systems ensure a comfortable and convenient trip to the city from the airport. The Metrorail system operates from the airport to various locations in Miami. The Metrorail Orange Line runs from the Miami Central Station, which is accessible from the airport terminals using the free MIA Mover train. It takes about 15 minutes to get to Downtown Miami from the Miami Central Station. The Tri-Rail system operates from the airport, via the Miami Central Station, to Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach.
